New Murabba Development Company (NMDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tourism Development Fund (TDF) to spearhead the transformation of Riyadh. The agreement will see the two entities work closely together to create New Murabba: the world’s largest , modern downtown, serving as a model for future urban development and contributing towards Riyadh city’s evolution, in line with Vision 2030.

The New Murabba Development Company (NMDC) announces the appointment of Michael Dyke as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective January 8, 2024. Dyke brings a wealth of experience leading large-scale business enterprises and projects across multiple sectors and geographies and is currently a member of Balfour Beatty’s Group Executive Committee, responsible as Chief Executive Officer for the company’s interests in HS2, Europe’s largest infrastructure project.

New Murabba Development Company signed today with China Harbour Engineering Co. Ltd, an earthworks excavation contract for the first phase of excavation required for the future construction of the basement structures underneath the Mukaab and surrounding podiums. The contract was signed by Eng. Sabah Barakat, Acting CEO of New Murabba Development Company, and Qiao Yongli, General Manager - Branch of China Harbour Engineering Co. Ltd. The scope of work also includes the backfilling and ground improvements of the surrounding development areas. We’re proud at New Murabba Development Company to partner with China Harbour Engineering Co., Ltd on this project given their expertise in delivering professional services for large complex construction projects. The award of this scope to China Harbour Engineering Co., Ltd, as well as to a number of other key partners, helps ensure that the New Murabba and the Mukaab can be delivered as per their ambitious vision and will contribute to developing the largest modern downtown in the world in line with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

New Murabba Development Company signed an agreement with Turner Arabia to provide project management services for The Mukaab, which sits at the heart of the larger Murabba development. The agreement is being signed by Sabah Barakat, Acting CEO of New Murabba Development Company, and Husein Odeh, General Manager of Turner Arabia. The Mukaab is a truly visionary structure that is unlike anything ever built before, standing at 400m x 400m x 400m. It will create the world’s largest immersive experience building, which will include a number of first-of-its kind technologies to truly transport the building’s visitors and residents to a virtual reality world at an unprecedented scale. The Mukaab consists of a large retail element and an iconic hotel enclosed inside the Mukaab and surrounded by an immersive experience screen, 4 mixed-use corner towers, as well as the world’s largest usable roof space, all wrapped in a Najdi architecturally inspired façade. The Mukaab will sit on a massive basement and podium structure that completes this architectural masterpiece. New Murabba's impact goes beyond construction; it is about transforming the landscape and future of Riyadh and creating the world’s largest modern downtown, with The Mukaab, the world’s largest immersive experience complex, at its center. This project is expected to add SAR180 billion to non-oil GDP and create 334,000 direct and indirect jobs by 2030. The project is due to be completed in 2030. This is not just a project; it is a catalyst for growth and progress.
